Performance of social responsibilities has become a major indicator of corporate success.
Upholding the development concepts of “Caring for Life and Kindness to Nature” for years, Elion has actively performed social responsibilities and has been devoted public welfare undertakings to promote harmony between human and environment, between environment and society and between people.
At the Paris Conference on Climate Change on December 1,2015, UNEP released the Report on Ecological Wealth Creation Model and Result of Kubuqi, China. Following nuclear power and high-speed railway, Kubuqi ecological wealth creation model is praised as “The Third Card for the World to Know about China”.
Statistics show that, public welfare funds of Elion exceed RMB3 billion. It has afforested Kubuqi desert of more than 6,000km2. Elion has spent entrepreneurship funds of over RMB38 billion in developing the desert ecology industry, created ecological wealth of over RMB500 billion and made over 100,000 farmers and herdsmen out of poverty and become prosperous. In October 2016, Elion Kubuqi desertification control and poverty alleviation practice was identified as the poverty alleviation paragon by the Chinese government and promoted across the country. Kubuqi desertification control and poverty alleviation results are shared among over 400 million Chinese people and nearly 1 billion worldwide people affected by desertification.
Elion Foundation (RMB20 million) is a private foundation that is registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Its businesses are in the charge of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee. In the past 29 years, Elion has spent nearly RMB3 billion in controlling Kubuqi desert, building a green barrier for north China. To ensure sustainable development of the desertification control undertaking and bring benefits to more people, Elion has set up Elion Foundation. At Paris and Rio de Janeiro+20 Summit in June 2012, Mr. Wang Wenbiao, one of main foundation sponsors, declared that, Elion will turn 10,000km2 desert into oasis in the next decade.
Purpose of the Foundation: With the purpose of “Creating a Powerful, Civilized and Harmonious Society” and the development concept of “Green Cycle”, Elion has been committed to environmental protection and desertification prevention & control, actively performed social responsibilities and promoted the development of public welfare undertakings.
While committed to ecological environment restoration from deserts and cities and vigorously developing three core businesses in the past 29 years, Elion has also actively carried out poverty alleviation and charity activities in the spirit of “Equal Importance to Honor and Money and Honor First”. Its spending on teaching, charity and disaster relief has exceeded RMB500 million. It has donated over RMB43 million to Wenchuan Earthquake, Southwest drought-stricken regions and disaster-hit regions in Yushu and Zhouqu, Gansu. In 2009, it donated RMB110 million to build Elion Oriental School for children of farmers and herdsmen in the desert, which consists of the kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, senior technician school and Party school.
